Many people were very excited to see FLIR release a thermal imager for the iPhone. I think it is a great step in a good direction. And, for $350 you can't go wrong. It's a major reduction in price for a thermal imager.
As an Android phone owner, it doesn't get me that excited. Luckily, FLIR isn't the only company making such devices.
Enter the Opgal Therm-App. They have introduced an imager for Android phones that support USB OTG. This small device has a clamp that holds it to the phone. While not as clean looking as the FLIR One, it has the benefit of multi-device support.
As you can see, there are interchangable lenses offering a coverage angle of either 14° or 41°. The imager itself will sense a temperature range of 5°-90°C (41°-194° F) with a resolution of 384x288 pixels. The FLIR One has a little wider temperature range (0°-100°C) but it's resolution is only 80x60 pixels.
According to their website the imager is available now, but only to existing customers. No indication of price.
I don't know why, I feel the need for one of these in my stable of goodies.
